Golf has a special way of bringing the Costa del Sol together – locals, international visitors, seasoned players, and rising stars all sharing the fairways under our famous blue skies. And this year’s Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España was another reminder of just how much the region has become a powerhouse in European golf.
Held at the beautiful Real Club de Golf Guadalhorce, close to Málaga, the tournament delivered drama, excitement, and a truly memorable victory for 21-year-old French golfer Nastasia Nadaud, who claimed her first-ever title with a spectacular final round.
Victory for Nastasia Nadaud
Nastasia Nadaud claimed the biggest win of her career with a flawless six-under final round, finishing at 16 under par. Calm and confident from the start, she held off compatriot Perrine Delacour and an early push from Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab, who had set a course record earlier in the week.
Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley made a late charge to take second at 12 under, with several players close behind on 11 under.
The tournament also confirmed Singapore’s Shannon Tan as the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit winner after a strong and consistent season.
Local Golfers Impress on Home Ground
While the international competition was fierce, it was the local talent that really captured the crowd’s attention.
San Pedro’s own Azahara Muñoz, one of the Costa del Sol’s most beloved golfers, delivered a strong performance – finishing at seven under after a perfectly timed birdie on the final hole. Her solid play once again highlighted why she’s such an admired figure in Spanish golf.
Another standout was 19-year-old amateur Andrea Revuelta, who finished as the top Spaniard at eight under, earning the Celia Barquín Trophy. Her performance put her ahead of both Muñoz and last year’s champion Carlota Ciganda, who also closed at seven under.
Local favourite Ana Peláez continued her strong season, ending in 23rd place at five under.
For Costa del Sol golf fans, it was a brilliant week – full of pride, excitement, and a reminder of the region’s growing influence in the sport.
A Global Stage for World-Class Golf
Golf is woven into the lifestyle here on the Costa del Sol, and this region continues to shine on the world stage. Alongside the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, the area regularly welcomes major international tournaments – including LIV Golf Andalucía at Valderrama, one of the most high-profile events in the modern game.
The Costa del Sol also cemented its place in golfing history when Finca Cortesín hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup, a landmark tournament that drew global attention and showcased the region’s ability to host world-class events with ease.
With legendary courses such as Guadalmina, Valderrama, Los Flamingos and many more just minutes apart, it’s no surprise that this coastline is known as the Costa del Golf. These events highlight not only the sporting excellence in the region, but also the atmosphere, international community and year-round outdoor lifestyle that make living here so special.
