Family life in Guadalmina

Far from being merely a Marbella tourist destination, Guadalmina is a leafy residential zone of apartments and villas. One of the great attractions of this area is the family atmosphere of normal day-to-day life taking place, albeit with the Mediterranean Sea just minutes from the doorstep.

For younger members of the family, a priority is identifying an appropriate school. There are many respected state schools in the area, however for those who prefer either a bi-lingual education or even to follow a purely English curriculum, this area offers one of the best educational selections to be found on the Costa del Sol.

English Curriculum
Calpe School is a long-established primary school located steps from the beach in San Pedro Alcántara. Following the English curriculum, children from two to ten have been prepared for secondary education here since 1973.

Marbella Montessori School is another English curriculum primary school, educating children using the Montessori method from the ages of three to eleven.

In the heart of neighbouring San Pedro Alcántara, Laude School is just a few minutes by car from Guadalmina. Recently cited as ‘one of the best schools in Spain’ by respected El Mundo newspaper, the school offers the national curriculum of England and Wales from the ages of two to eighteen, as well as emphasising the social and emotional development of the child.

Bilingual School
Colegio Atalaya Bilingüe is a new addition to the local school community, now in its fourth year in a brand new purpose-built structure with extensive outdoor sporting facilities as well as an indoor sports hall. Lessons are taught in English and Spanish, with German as a third language, to children from the ages of three to eighteen. Currently, the Spanish Bachillerato curriculum is followed with a recent announcement confirming that the International Baccalaureate is to be offered in the near future.

Spanish Curriculum
Colegio San José, educating infants to secondary pupils, is a bilingual school following the Spanish Bachillerato system. In the centre of the Guadalmina community, this long established school also has an establishment in Estepona.

Guadalmina is a great area for families with young and older children, with a wide selection of educational methods available. At the Winkworth office, we have personal experience of the Spanish and international schooling systems and would be happy to help locate your ideal property for sale in Guadalmina with the school of your choice in mind.
