Málaga tops Forbes list of best places to live

The famous American publication specialising in High Net Worth business, investment and lifestyle publishes an annual list that outlines the top-20 cities globally that international jet-setters, and HNW Americans in particular, rate the best. This year, Málaga ranks high on the list!

In fact, it made it to tenth place out of all the cities in the world—quite a feat considering that unlike places such as Paris, New York and Sydney, Málaga is not as strongly on the American radar as it is in Europe and the Middle East. In rating the world’s top most desirable cities, Forbes look at a variety of quantifiable details such as the quality of healthcare, housing, international schools, the proximity of airports with good route networks, a low crime rate and above all, the quality of life.

The latter is less quantifiable than sensory, and here the qualification relies on such elements as the standard of dining, shopping, nightlife, culture, parks, nature, leisure facilities and getaways. With the highest concentration of museums per square kilometre in all of Europe, as well as a beautiful historic centre, beaches within a kilometre of its grand squares and parks, lots of surrounding mountain ranges and valleys, as well as the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the surf capital of Tarifa within two hours, it’s not surprising that Málaga does so well.

Add a fantastic gastronomical scene, top shopping, educational and medical amenities from Sotogrande to beyond the capital city of Málaga, lots of golf courses and marinas to choose from, a great concentration of health and beauty centres, and links to major air routes across Europe, Asia and the America, and it becomes clear that Málaga is a gem indeed. Within two hours you can be in Seville, Granada or Morocco, adding further spice to the rich history and cultural variety of this region.

On Málaga’s doorstep is the Costa del Sol, a luxurious, cosmopolitan destination that thrives throughout the year and offers some of the most beautiful residential areas in Europe, not to mention an enviable climate and lifestyle, ensuring that Málaga is indeed one of the global capitals of quality of life.
