1. Where is San Pedro de Alcántara?
San Pedro is the nearest resort along from Puerto Bánus and incorporates Guadalmina as one of its urbanizations. Although it is part of the Marbella municipality, it is almost run independently as it has its own town hall and mayor.
2. How far is it from the airport?
Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is about 40 minutes by road, whilst Gibraltar Airport (GIB) is about an hour away and is a good alternative for British travellers, with ample connections to various destinations in the UK.
3. What are the transport links like?
San Pedro de Alcántara has a bus station from where you can travel to many parts of the Costa del Sol. There are regular buses to both Estepona and Marbella as well as Málaga, Ronda and Seville. There is also an airport bus that starts at San Pedro bus station. It stops at Marbella bus station and then goes directly to the airport.

Within the town centre, you will find many stores, from shoe shops, sportswear, jewellers and fashion shops to the iconic Ale Hop, electrical shops, hardware shops and many more. There are several supermarkets in San Pedro, with Maskom in the town centre, DIA in the La Colonia commercial centre and Carrefour in the Cortijo Blanco part of town. As you head to the industrial estate there is even more choice with a large Mercadona and another DIA. Nearby in La Colonia, there are plans to build a Lidl supermarket.

The private Laude International School is very popular, as is Calpe, both of which are in San Pedro de Alcántara. There is also a good choice of public schools, with a new one just built opposite La Colonia, in the El Ingenio area of town.

There is a very good public health centre in the town which was recently completely modernised. There are also a number of private healthcare facilities with Sanitas having a clinic right in the centre called Clinica del Rio.

There is a large sports centre called Supera which is a municipal centre, although you do need to have a membership. The memberships on offer depend on age but are very reasonable and they also offer family and OAP reductions. In the centre is a fully equipped gym, full-size indoor pool, spa area and daily classes. Around town, you can find many different private gyms and fitness centres, padel and tennis courts, football pitches and even climbing walls. The nearest golf courses are Guadalmina, Atalaya and El Higueral.
